About Me
Hi, I’m Matthew Shing, a Year 11 student at Knox Grammar, living in Sydney, originally from Hong Kong. I’m passionate about raising awareness of bushfire safety, and I’m dedicated to educating people on how to protect our communities from these natural disasters.
My Background
Growing up in Hong Kong and later moving to Sydney, I’ve had a diverse upbringing that has shaped my interests and perspectives. I’m particularly drawn to environmental science, technology, and how we can use knowledge to solve real-world problems.
Interests and Hobbies
In my spare time, I enjoy a variety of activities:
- Technology and Coding: I love exploring new tech trends and learning programming languages.
- Card Games: I’m an avid player of games like Magic: The Gathering and Yu-Gi-Oh.
- Reading: From science fiction to historical novels, I enjoy a broad range of genres.
- Music: Playing the piano and listening to classical and electronic music.
- Hiking and Nature: Spending time outdoors helps me connect with nature and understand the importance of environmental conservation.
Why Bushfire Awareness?
Living in Sydney, I’ve witnessed the devastating effects of bushfires and the urgent need for effective prevention and response strategies. My goal is to help others understand the risks and prepare adequately to minimise the impact of these natural events.
